How long has Gold Coast Doggy Daycare been open?

We opened in November 2020.

From what age can I bring my dog in?

Your dog can be any age, as long as they have had the 2 vaccinations they are required to get as a puppy (C3 and kennel cough) and had their 2 week cooling period. A cooling period is the time it takes for the vaccination to set into the dogs system before it becomes effective.

Is daycare suitable for puppies?

Yes absolutely! Doggy daycare is a fantastic way to develop social skills, understanding body language and correction from other dogs, becoming desensitised to other noises and build confidence.

My dog isn’t desexed yet, is that okay?

Yes, that is okay. At Gold Coast Doggy Daycare, we are always keeping a close eye for any funny business happening.

Does my dog need to be up to date with vaccinations to come to daycare?

Yes, vaccinations are very important to have for any dog. They help prevent the dog from contracting any nasty diseases or viruses that can be floating around and if your dog happens to contract anything it will only be a mild case.

Do Gold Coast Doggy Daycare do any activities with the dogs?

We have multiple activites we do throughout the day such as:

  • Rainbow ribbon
  • Bubbles
  • Snuffle mats
  • Kong time
  • Water play

The list goes on. To see us in action check us out on Instagram and TikTok! Search ‘@gcdoggydaycare’.

Does my dog have somewhere to go if they need a break?

As mentioned, we have multiple rooms including individual bays. These bays are designed for dogs to have their lunch, have a nap or rest if they are too overstimulated. We also have crates which we cover (only the top to still allow airflow) to create a darker space to help those who are too over stimulated.

Can you train my dog to be better behaved at home?

We can definitely try to create as much structure as possible here at the daycare and if you have any specific cues or commands you do at home, we can implement them here. Our team can also provide contact numbers of behaviorists and suggestions on things you may be able to implement at home to help improve your dog’s behavior.

What is a “structured walk”?

It is an additional extra you can add to your dog’s day. We ask what you would like to achieve with us taking your dog out, if for example, you are pregnant and wish for your dog to walk next to you and the pram we can teach your dog to walk beside you and not pull. If it is so your dog can be desensitised to outdoor noises such as traffic, we can work with them to become more confident around noises or things they find uncomfortable or are afraid of.

Do you do overnight stay?

No, unfortunately we do not offer this service. (Ask our friendly staff for referrals)

Can someone else collect my dog for me?

Yes, if you are unable to collect or drop your dog off at any time please let our friendly staff know before this happens as we won’t allow your dog to go home without your permission. We will call you if we aren’t notified.

Should I bring anything with my dog for their scheduled days?

Please ensure your dog comes to the daycare with a harness or flat collar that can stay on the dog for the duration of their stay. If your dog has lunch, you are more than welcome to bring that in with them, as we do have lunch time for the dogs. Please do not bring toys, bowls or beds as we have these at the daycare centre and can provide them accordingly. If your dog is anxious or is a puppy who naps, you are more than welcome to bring a blanket. We will put this with them if they are in an individual bay only. If your dog is a chewer, please do not bring anything in due to staff not being able to supervise 100% of the time
